Morata to remain at Stamford Bridge next season despite speculation of early departure

Chelsea have revealed they will not allow Alvaro Morata to leave Stamford Bridge this season.

The Spain striker joined the Blues last summer as a club record £60 million signing, however has endured a difficult first season at the club.

Morata managed just 15 goals in 48 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side, and only 11 in the Premier League – form that saw him omitted from Julen Lopetegui’s Spain side for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

And following his tough debut campaign for Chelsea, it was rumoured he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with former club Juventus understood to be primed to take him back to Serie A.

Juve were interested in snapping up Morata on an initial two-year loan, with an obligatory purchase option, the Italian champions seeing the 25-year-old as a replacement for seemingly outbound Gonzalo Higuain.

However, according to reports from Rai Sport, Morata will remain at Chelsea next season, with the club keen to see their club record investment pay dividends.

Antonio Conte remains a fan of the Spaniard and sees him as an integral part of his plans at Stamford Bridge next season.

Conte’s own future however remains very much up in the air, meaning Morata’s fate at Stamford Bridge is likely to depend on whether Conte remains at the club.
