Chelsea and Manchester City are both reportedly interested in snapping up Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba this summer.
The 18-year-old’s contract at the Camp Nou expires next year and Barca are said to be pessimistic about their chances of tying him down to a longer-term contract.
Moriba is very talented, with the teenager having broken into the La Liga side’s first team last season, but supporters on Twitter are not sure why the Blues would be interested in the player:

Lmao but why? He aint a holding Midfielder, and he’ll ask for a hell of a wage, Barcelona doesn’t want him cause his wages are too high for his role in the squad, we don’t need him at all ?

It is always a concern when a young player is demanding a sizeable salary as it raises question marks about their motivation and desire to play football at the highest level.
Even so, Moriba may be an opportunity that could be too good to pass up for Chelsea, as he could be available for a knockdown price this summer, or on a free transfer next year. We shall see how this transfer story develops.
