Midfielder gives insight into Chelsea’s Premier League struggles

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has given an insight into the Blues’ struggles in the Premier League this season.

Antonio Conte’s side currently sit fourth in the table, 19 points behind league leaders City.

However while top four football was thought to be a certainty for the Blues, their form since the turn of the year suggests otherwise – Chelsea have won just twice in all competitions in 2018.

The past week has also been one of the worst in the club’s recent history having lost back-to-back top flight games against Bournemouth and Watford.

And while fingers have been pointed at Conte for the club’s recent poor form, Hazard believes it is Chelsea’s return to Europe which has proven to be their downfall.

“I think the Premier League is difficult. It is hard to win every year,” Hazard said to ESPN FC.

“Last year we didn’t have the Champions League. This year we have less time to be ready for the games. Every week there are three games.”

“That’s why we love football – if there is only one team that wins it would be boring. That’s why football is special,” the midfielder added.

“You never know what’s going to happen, especially in England.”

Chelsea take on West Brom at the weekend as they look for only their third win of the year.
