Michael Owen Makes His Prediction Ahead Of Chelsea’s Match Against Southampton

Former England international Michael Owen is expecting Chelsea to carry on where they left off from before the international break by securing a comfortable win against Southampton.

The BT Sport pundit was impressed with how the Blues dealt with Crystal Palace in their last league game earlier this month and he is predicting the Blues to pick up another three points tomorrow afternoon:

“Chelsea are starting to click. Their 4-0 win against Crystal Palace two weeks ago was their best performance of the season so far, and I fear a bit for goal-shy Southampton here. I expect the Blues to have too much firepower, and despite lingering concerns regarding their back-line, I fancy them to take the points.”

Owen has gone with a 3-1 scoreline. It is a fair prediction considering the Saints have shown their vulnerabilities already this season with defeats to Palace and Tottenham. Chelsea should have the firepower to exploit gaps in Ralph Hasenhuttl side’s defence but they will need to be mindful of the threat posed by Danny Ings.

The England international has started the season in confident mood, having scored three goals in four league games, and manager Frank Lampard will be looking to build on the clean sheet they got at home against the Eagles last time out.
