Michael Owen Gives His Prediction As Chelsea Face Leicester In The FA Cup

Former England striker Michael Owen is predicting Chelsea will just edge their FA Cup quarter-final tie against Leicester City today.

The sides drew their two league games against each other this season, and the BT Sport pundit says he expects another tight affair at the King Power Stadium this evening:

“Chelsea have only recorded one win against Leicester in the last six meetings and that victory came in the FA Cup. The sides met at the King Power Stadium at the same stage of the competition in 2018 and Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners after extra time.”

“I’m predicting the same result this weekend; a 2-1 away win for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.”

Manager Frank Lampard would certainly take a 2-1 victory. Although a finish in a top-four is the main priority, getting a trophy under his belt in his first season in charge will certainly be another big motivation for the Blues boss.

Chelsea should fancy their chances as while Brendan Rodgers’ side had a flying start to the campaign, they have begun to stumble in the past few games.

They drew 0-0 at home last time out in the league against relegation strugglers Brighton and were lucky not to lose after Neal Maupay missed a first-half penalty.

The Blues should be confident of getting a result when they line up against their opponents later today.
