Mendy And Havertz To Start, Sterling And Kante On The Bench: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Brighton

Chelsea interim boss Frank Lampard will have been very disappointed with the performance against Real Madrid midweek and he will be hoping for a reaction versus Brighton.

The Seagulls head into the match on Saturday seven points above the Blues in the table, having played two fewer games, which demonstrates how poor a season the London club have had.

Lampard is expected to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal, with Edouard Mendy returning to the starting lineup for the first time in five months.

Kalidou Koulibaly’s hamstring injury means Benoit Badiashile is likely to be recalled after being ineligible for the Real fixture. The Frenchman could play alongside Wesley Fofana and Thiago Silva in a back three. Reece James and Ben Chilwell will start in the two wingback positions.

N’Golo Kante’s fitness needs to be managed so he could make way, allowing Mason Mount to start with Mateo Kovacic and Enzo Fernandez in midfield.

Up front, Raheem Sterling could be dropped in favour of Kai Havertz, with Joao Felix retaining his position in the eleven.

Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Take On Brighton:

Mendy, James, Fofana, Silva, Badiashile, Chilwell, Kovacic, Fernandez, Mount, Havertz, Felix
