Rumors of Juan Mata’s move to United proved to be true after the Spaniard said his goodbyes during Chelsea’s last training session. According to the BBC, it seems that the Blues agreed to let the 25 year old leave for little under £40 million which makes the winger one of the most profitable deals in the club’s history.

Mata should reach United’s training grounds on Friday for a medical. Despite the fact that none of Manchester’s officials can admit the Spaniard has sign a deal with the Red Devils, all signs point to the fact that he will no longer wear Chelsea’s shirt. The alleged contract signed by the Blues’ former player is 4 years long. His departure is not that unexpected considering the poor relationship between him and Mourinho.

The Spanish international who scored just one goal this season for Chelsea, is going to be part of Moyes’ reconstruction plan. He will probably become an important member in Manchester’s starting line-up which is definitely a step forward for Mata who spent most of his 2013-2014 season on the bench.

Even if Mourinho insisted that the 25 year old is an important piece in Chelsea’s future, it was still going to be hard to keep him on the bench especially with the World Cup just a few months away. Mata was clearly looking for a change which can secure him a spot in Spain’s national team. His chances will clearly increase considering United’s lack of options when it comes to both left and right wings of the pitch.
