Mata Eager To Work With ‘One Of The Best’

It was officially revealed a few days ago that Mourinho will be leaving his post as Real Madrid boss in the summer after a year of disappointments at the Bernabeu. Madrid’s chief aim this season was the UEFA Champions League trophy, however they fell at the semi-final stage against Borussia Dortmund. They were pipped to the Copa Del Rey title by neighbors Atletico Madrid in the final, and were not even close to fierce rivals Barcelona in the league this season.

The news of Mourinho’s departure has resulted in rumors regarding his next destination. He was briefly linked to the job at Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United before David Moyes took over, however the best bet is now on the Portugese manager re-joining former club Chelsea.

Spanish international Mata, who has had a stellar season for the Blues, helped them cap off their season with a 3rd place finish in the league and success in the Europa League. He was asked about a possible return of the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, and he was reported by Metro as saying, “Jose is one of the best.”

“He won everything in every country he was – in Portugal, in Italy, in London with Chelsea, and in Spain as well.”

“We don’t know really what is going to happen but if he comes he is welcome because he is one of the best and Chelsea always want to be a top side.”

“If he comes we are going to be happy to have him.”

Mata’s enthusiasm echoes the sentiments of everyone at Chelsea involved in working with Mourinho. Also, with a managerial overhaul in the pipeline at both the Manchester clubs who are Chelsea’s top rivals for the league title, the arrival of Mourinho, who has had a proven record of success with Chelsea, could very well work in favor of the London club who can steal a march on their rivals for next season.
