Martinez Looking to Bring His Former Wigan Player To Everton

Roberto Martinez was installed as the new Everton chief after the long serving David Moyes departed to fill the vacant Manchester United post. Martinez has already made his mark in his short time at Goodison Park as he has brought along Arouna Kone with him to Merseyside and is now in advanced talks over bringing defender Antolin Alcaraz.

He has now identified a need to strengthen his wide play and has thus earmarked Moses as a possible candidate. Martinez knows the 22-year old very well since the duo’s days at Wigan, and it was Martinez himself who sanctioned the sale of Moses to Chelsea last year. DailyMail now reports that he is keen on reuniting with the attacker and a deal worth £8 million is being mooted, though Everton’s first preference would be a temporary loan deal.

Moses moved from Wigan to Stamford Bridge following an impressive previous campaign for the Latics. He was one of their standout performers, which attracted Chelsea’s attention, and a move to London soon followed. He has, however, not managed to recreate that impact as his role in the team has reduced down from being a regular and guaranteed first-team starter to that of a squad player.

He has unfortunately been chosen behind the likes of big name attackers like Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar at Chelsea. Game time has been hard to come by for Moses, and one would not have to dig deep to find a valid reason for him to be on the move in the coming weeks, even if only temporarily like a loan deal.

It is a given that a young player like Moses will want to play as much football as he possibly can, and that is something very difficult for Chelsea to accommodate at the moment. Also, a place in the team in the future is far from guaranteed given the arrival of Jose Mourinho, who could possibly not have a role of vital importance for Moses for the next season.

Do you feel that a move for Moses to Everton is in the best interests of everyone involved?
