Manchester City V Chelsea Match Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will want to build on the 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town last week with a good display at the Etihad.

The Blues have wilted in key away games against Tottenham and Arsenal this campaign, and they will want to put that right on Sunday.

City will be heading into the match boosted by going back top of the table after their 2-0 victory over Everton midweek. After a convincing 3-1 win at home to the Gunners last Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s team are playing with the swagger and confidence that makes them very dangerous opponents.

Sarri will be expecting his players to turn up and be counted, but we will have to wait and see if his team are up for the fight.

Chelsea don’t have any new injury worries heading into this weekend’s clash, with Marco van Ginkel the only player out of contention with a knee injury.

For City, captain Vincent Kompany remains out with a muscular injury he picked up at the start of last month in the 2-1 win over Liverpool. Guardiola has since stated he doesn’t know when the 32-year-old will return to training.

Left-back Benjamin Mendy is back after surgery but the Frenchman has yet to be used in a league match with the player still suffering with swelling around his knee. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo remains out with an Achilles injury.

The bookmakers have made City favourites to come out on top this weekend. They are 8/15 to win at 188BET with a draw 18/5 at Betfair. A Chelsea victory is 23/4 at Unibet.
