Man Up, Arsenal! – Mourinho

Man Up, Arsenal! – Mourinho

Chelsea managed to go to the Emirates Stadium and come away with a point on Monday night, much to Arsenal’s frustration who had gone 4 games without a win in all competitions at the time.

It was a frustrating night for the Gunners which was compounded by two refereeing decisions going against them. Theo Walcott was brought down by a careless Willian challenge in Chelsea’s penalty area which was waved away by referee. Mikel Arteta was also caught by a malicious looking tackle by John Obi Mikel during the game, only for it to be overlooked once again.

Wenger rightly challenged the decisions, but speaking after the Arsenal game Mourinho suggested that Arsenal were trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, directing the accusations at Arsenal’s recent foreign imports. The Daily Mail reported Mourinho as referring Arsenal as ‘cry babies’ as he said, “You know, they like to cry,”

“Football is a game of contact. English football, winter, water on the pitch, sliding tackles at fantastic speed. Be proud. Play with pride. If you’re hurt, OK, you’re hurt.”

The result on Monday night extended Mourinho’s streak of never losing against Arsenal making it 5 wins and 5 draws and after today’s results Arsenal are back on top with Chelsea 2 points behind in third.
