Lukaku Eyes Champions League Next Season

Lukaku, currently on a season-long loan at Everton, joined Chelsea in 2011 but has spent the majority of his time out on loan in the Premier League as he continues his development. The 20-year-old has been in sensational form for the Toffees and has already scored 9 league goals in just 20 appearances.

His current form at Goodison Park follows his coming-of-age performances for West Brom in the 2012-13 season when he notched up an impressive tally of 17 league goals in 35 appearances.

He is yet to experience Champions League football but has stated his ambitions of playing in the elite competition next season onwards. According to Metro, he said, “It’s time for me to play Champions League, and that’s what I want. When I turn 21, I’ll have been a professional for five years, I need this in my evolution.

He added, “Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney were already in the Champions League when they were 23 or 24. I don’t want to play my first games in the Champions League when I’m 23, I want it now. I have to show now that I’m ready.”

The report suggests that Lukaku, who could fire Everton into the Champions League next season, has warned Chelsea that he could seek a move away from the club if the Blues are not prpeared to give him the opportunities to shine in Europe.
