Lukaku And Pulisic To Start, Havertz And Werner Out: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Everton

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will be hoping that his side don’t need a last-minute penalty (like they did against Leeds) to overcome Everton tomorrow night.

Rafa Benitez’s side have won just once away from home this season, and they will be without Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the game,

While Chelsea have certainly not looked as convincing at the back in recent weeks, the fact that their opponents are without some key forwards, means this should be a straightforward victory.

Press the next page as we predict Chelsea’s starting lineup for tomorrow’s match.

GK – Edouard Mendy

The 29-year-old would have been disappointed with how he let in Raphinha’s penalty against Leeds, considering the Brazilian had struck it so close to his body.

However, Mendy did make a couple of good stops during the game and he could do nothing about Joe Gelhardt’s goal. He should have a quieter evening against Everton.

RWB – Reece James

The wingback had to move into central areas to get involved versus Leeds, which is not ideal, and he will be hoping for a bit more of the ball on the flanks against the Toffees.

James thrives when he is utilised high up the pitch so he can deliver pinpoint crosses or have shots on goal. He is a key attacking weapon and hopefully, he’ll play a prominent role tomorrow.

CB – Andreas Christensen

Christensen replaced Cesar Azpilicueta midway through the second half against Leeds, as the Spaniard struggled to keep up with the pace of the game.

It would suggest that Christensen will be recalled to the starting lineup for the Everton clash. Hopefully, his form shows some sort of improvement after some poor recent displays.

CB – Thiago Silva

Silva doesn’t regularly play more than once a week due to the toll it takes on his body, but he has had four days to recover.

The Brazilian international did not cover himself in glory for Gelhardt’s goal against Leeds, getting caught out of position. A minor blot on what has been an excellent campaign for the 37-year-old so far.

CB – Antonio Rudiger

While speculation continues about the German’s future, the player seems completely unperturbed by all the talk about his contract situation.

Rudiger is always in the thick of the action, winning no less than two penalties on Saturday. You would back him to be just as involved against the Toffees tomorrow.

LWB – Marcos Alonso

The Spaniard had an up and down day to say the least versus Leeds, giving away a penalty before providing the assist for Mason Mount.

You get what you get with Alonso, and Blues supporters will be keenly anticipating Ben Chilwell’s return to full fitness next month.

CM – Jorginho

The Italian put away his two penalties calmly. From 12 yards out, you can always depend on the Italian to deliver and his composure was vital to Chelsea not dropping points.

Mateo Kovacic is not available to face Everton and, with N’Golo Kante only fit enough for the bench, it means Jorginho will have to battle on for now, despite carrying a hip injury.

CM – Ruben Loftus-Cheek

It was a mixed bag from the 25-year-old versus Leeds, making good runs forward but not really having the end product to create chances.

Tuchel has revealed that Kante is closing in on a return to full fitness so Loftus-Cheek will want to show his manager that he deserves to keep his place in the side with a good performance tomorrow evening.

RW – Mason Mount

It must be said that, other than his goal, Mount was pretty quiet on Saturday, but that’s the thing with the 22-year-old, he usually pops up in the right places.

The England international simply has the knack of pulling something out of the bag, be it a goal or a superb pass for someone else to score.

CF – Romelu Lukaku

Tuchel has said that the Belgian didn’t start against Leeds because he didn’t believe the forward was fit enough to match the intensity of their opponents.

However, he is confident that Lukaku should be able to play 70 minutes against Everton so expect him to start at Stamford Bridge,

LW – Christian Pulisic

The American was surprisingly an unused substitute last time out, despite impressing off the bench against Zenit St Petersburg just a few days before.

Pulisic does deserve to be given another chance from the start and he may be given his opportunity tomorrow night.
