Mourinho will have a hard time keeping Luiz in London after Barcelona seem to have made the Brazilian defender one of their priorities for the summer. If not for the Portuguese’s refusal to let the 26 year old move to Spain at the beginning of the season, Luiz would have probably been paired up with Pique right now rather than with Terry or Cahill.

It is a hard career path to predict that of Chelsea’s center-back. The Blues are currently basing their defensive line on JT who has been in excellent form since the season began. Despite that, England’s former captain is going to be 34 at the end of this year which might obligate him to start more games as a substitute. With that in mind, letting Luiz leave during the summer could be a mistake, and as most football fans know, Mourinho is not the guy to make poor decisions.

On the other hand, Luiz might not be willing to go through yet another season without knowing for sure if his place in the Chelsea’s starting line-up is secure.

According to The Mirror, Barcelona will surely make an offer during the summer. The Brazilian’s contract is set to expire in 2017 which is yet another thing to consider when analyzing rumors about his possible transfer. Letting him go with three years left of contract should allow Chelsea to start negotiations at a pretty high level.

Luiz came to London for £21.3 million and the exchange of the newly resigned Nemanja Matic and it is hard to believe Abramovich will settle for less than £30 million. After spending so much money on Neymar and with Valdes certain of his departure, Barca will surely make a move after signing a new goalkeeper who might be very expensive considering the fact that he will become the Spanish side’s number one for a long time.
