Luiz Confident He Will Make It To The World Cup

Despite being considered one of the best defenders in the world, David Luiz is currently not Mourinho’s first choice for a spot in the center of Chelsea’s defensive line. The 26 year old has been replaced by Gary Cahill who alongside John Terry has managed 5 consecutive appearances. The Blues have been through a lot of changes since the Portuguese manager came to Stamford Bridge and several formations have been tried out. That is probably why Luiz is not that concerned with his current situation.

According to Metro, the Brazilian who was linked to Barcelona over the summer, insisted he will stay with the club even if things are not that great for him at this particular moment. The biggest problem with his lack of game time may influence his international future though. The World Cup selection for his national team will surely be influenced by the way players perform throughout the rest of the season and Luiz’s absence could mean he will lose the chance to perform in front of his compatriots.

The 26 year old defender spoke about his fallout with Chelsea’s boss but did not look worried. His morale seemed good even if his form is not great right now. Even so he stated he is training hard to provide Mourinho with viable options for the games to come. The Blues are currently involved in three major competitions and hope to win at least one trophy at the end of the season. After winning the Europa League last year, they hope to improve and land the Champions League title this year. They also have a great chance at the Capital One Cup after eliminating Arsenal.

Since moving to England, Luiz has managed 67 appearances and 6 goals. His performances are not always constant but he is always called in to represent his country. Hopefully for him he will get to play more during the months to come. Only by doing so, will Chelsea’s player have a chance at the World Cup trophy which would be a first for him considering he made his first national team appearance in 2010.
