1. Chelsea’s defence remains careless

Enzo Maresca’s biggest worry from the 2-1 defeat will be how his defenders played in relation to fouling the Liverpool players.

The Blues racked up just one yellow card but gave away easy chances to Liverpool on several occasions. Firstly, Tosin Adarabioyo fouled Diogo Jota as the last man and was awarded a yellow card. However, he could have very easily been sent off for the foul.

Secondly, Levi Colwill gave away a penalty which led to Mo Salah’s goal which opened the scoring at Anfield. The Blues almost gave away a second penalty when Robert Sanchez brought down Curtis Jones, but it was ruled out through VAR.

Enzo Maresca won’t want his defenders to make a habit of poor decision making in the high-pressure situations, it could cost them.
