Liverpool vs Chelsea: Team news and predicted starting XI

Everything you need to know about tonight’s trip to Anfield

Chelsea take on Liverpool this weekend in the Premier League, but they first travel to Merseyside this evening to face them in the Carabao Cup third round.

With the league fixture set to take priority, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is expected to make a number of changes for tonight’s game as he looks to rest a number of his star players for Saturday’s main event.

Duo Pedro and Antonio Rudiger will be rested for the clash after picking up minor knocks at the weekend, paving the way for youngster Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi to make their mark.

Eden Hazard is also set to be rested for the weekend, while Alvaro Morata makes way for Olivier Giroud up top following his indifferent performance against West Ham on Sunday.

Cesc Fabregas is likely to start following his first appearance of the season in the Europa League last week. The Spaniard will most likely partner Ross Barkley and N’Golo Kante in midfield.

Kepa remains in goal in favour of Willy Caballero.

Injury news

Youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the Blues’ only injury concern the clash at Anfield. The 22-year-old suffered a knock in training earlier in the month, and remains sidelined – which will come as a huge disappointment with the Englishman looking to assert himself as a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri.

Suspensions

Chelsea have no suspensions.
