“Letting the supporters down” – fans react after Watford defeat

Chelsea fans have demanded a reaction from their club after yet another embarrassing Premier League defeat.

The Blues were on the end of a 4-1 humbling courtesy of London rivals Watford last night at Vicarage Road – their second big defeat on the bounce having lost 3-0 to Bournemouth only last week.

The Hornets dominated 10-man-Chelsea after the lacklustre Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent off after only half an hour, and were rewarded for their superiority just before half-time when Troy Deeney converted a penalty after Gerard Deulofeu was brought down in area of keeper Thibaut Courtois.

It looked like spoils were to be shared when Eden Hazard equalised on 82 minutes with a fine superb goal – however Watford were not deterred, restoring their lead only two minutes later with an equally fine individual effort from full-back Daryl Janmaat.

With the Blues’ throwing men forward in hope of a last gasp equaliser, goals from both Gerard Deulofeu and substitute Roberto Pereyra completed the rout for the hosts and earned Javi Gracia’s side a well deserved three points on the manager’s first home game in charge.

The defeat sees Chelsea slip behind Liverpool and into fourth place in the Premier League and 19 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

While ahead of both rivals Tottenham and Arsenal, Antonio Conte’s side’s form since New Year has been a source of major concern. They have won only twice in all competition since the turn of the year.

The Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns …
