Lazio are weighing up a bid for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to Il Messaggero.
The Serie A side are said to be keen on strengthening in the middle of the park and their sporting director Igli Tare is said to have identified the England international as a potential target.
Il Messaggero claim Lazio were “very close” to signing Loftus-Cheek last year, only for the player to pick up a serious Achilles injury.
However, with the 24-year-old now back fit, they are said to be considering making a €20m (£18m) bid for the player, which they hope will be accepted.
Considering Loftus-Cheek’s talent, that appears to be a very low offer and Lazio are apparently looking at a potential alternative in Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominic Szoboszlai if they don’t succeed in their pursuit of the Chelsea star.
Manager Frank Lampard is unlikely to sanction the midfielder’s sale anyway so it’s best to take this rumour with a large pinch of salt.
