Lawrenson Predicts The Scoreline As Chelsea Play Leicester

Mark Lawrenson is expecting Chelsea to exact revenge on Leicester when the Blues take on the Foxes in their league encounter this evening.

The BBC pundit believes Thomas Tuchel’s men have two incentives heading into the game; they are fighting for a top-four finish and they will have the backing of their own supporters:

“Leicester were celebrating at the end, but Chelsea will have been thinking how it could have been their day. That’s one of the reasons I’m going for a Chelsea win here. They will want some revenge and they need a win to keep their top-four hopes in their own hands, plus they are playing at Stamford Bridge and they will have some fans there to help them.”

Lawrenson has gone with a 1-0 win for the home side, which seems like a reasonable prediction considering there weren’t many clear-cut chances between the two sides in the FA Cup final at the weekend.

However, in terms of the mindset of the two groups of players, you would back Chelsea to be more focused than their opponents. After winning a trophy, it can be hard to refocus straight away, especially with celebrations carrying on into Sunday, so Leicester are unlikely to be a their best. For that reason alone, the Blues will be favourites tonight as they look to cement their place in the top four.
