Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech will be assessed after twisting his knee in the 1-1 friendly draw against Brighton yesterday, the club have confirmed. The Moroccan international limped off in the second half and was replaced by midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Olivier Giroud also had to be substituted after picking up a head injury in a clash with Seagulls captain Lewis Dunk. The Frenchman is likely to be fit when the Blues kick-off their Premier League campaign in two weeks time.
There is less certainty over when new signing Ben Chilwell will be back in action. The England international is still sidelined with a heel injury he sustained at the start of July. The fullback was asked about the problem recently, and he stated that it is “healing really well.”
Billy Gilmour is still undergoing rehab following knee surgery and the initial estimate for his return to match action is sometime in October.
