Latest Chelsea Injury Report: Updates On Werner, Pulisic, Chilwell And Tiago Silva

Chelsea striker Timo Werner is a doubt for Sunday’s game against Liverpool after picking up a dead leg in the 3-1 win over Brighton. Manager Frank Lampard confirmed the player sustained the injury after clashing knees with Seagulls keeper Mat Ryan to win the penalty for the opening goal in the first half:

“He took a knock when he won the penalty, which we hope is a dead leg. I would like to think if it is that we have a bit of time to get him back (for Liverpool).

Lampard has also confirmed that Christian Pulisic suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring problem, and he is unlikely to be in the squad for the match at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Ben Chilwell is building up his fitness following a heel injury but it would be a major surprise if he were to be in the starting eleven for the Liverpool clash as he hasn’t played any football since early July.

Tiago Silva is also not expected to feature with the Brazilian having only started training with the Blues at the weekend, a couple of days before the victory at the Amex.

Hakim Ziyech has been ruled out with Lampard stating in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that the Moroccan needs at least two weeks to recover from a knee problem. He could return for the away game against West Brom later this month.

Billy Gilmour is likely to be out for at least another month as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.
