Latest Chelsea Injury Report: Updates On The Fitness Of N’Golo Kante And Mateo Kovacic

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N’Golo Kante suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham at the weekend.

The France international pulled up inside the final ten minutes of the game at Stamford Bridge and Tuchel has said that he is not confident that the player will return to action anytime soon:

“It seems like a muscle injury, a hamstring. He said he feels it pretty strong, so not good.”

The Blues only other fitness concern currently is Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian missed the Spurs clash due to a recurring knee problem, which has prevented him from training properly.

It has been decided that the player will undergo treatment before deciding whether any further action is required. From the sound of things, though, Kovacic won’t be back in contention to start games for a while.

With Chelsea facing Leeds in their next match on Sunday, it’s more than likely that neither Kante nor Kovacic will be available, meaning Tuchel will be short of options in the middle of the park.
