Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek suffered an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw against Everton last week and he was not in the squad for the matches against Wolves and Brentford.

There has been no estimate given on his return to fitness and he remains a big doubt for the game versus Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Manager Thomas Tuchel revealed that Andreas Christensen sustained an unspecified injury before the Wolves match and he was not involved in the matchday squad for the trip to Brentford yesterday evening either.

Hakim Ziyech picked up a calf problem in the draw against Wolves, but Tuchel said the issue wasn’t that bad so the Moroccan is likely to be available when they travel to Villa Park this weekend.

Ben Chilwell is still undergoing treatment on a serious knee injury that he sustained versus Juventus and he is unlikely to be back in action for at least another month.
