Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is expected to return for the game against Brentford after the international break.
The Frenchman did not feature against either Juventus or Southampton after contracting the virus, and he was also not called up by his national team. However, he should be able to train again soon once his self-isolation period is over.
Christian Pulisic’s ankle injury looks to be more serious than first anticipated. The American picked up the problem during his country’s 4-1 win over Honduras last month. He has subsequently missed seven matches for the Blues and he won’t be in action for the USA in the next couple of weeks either, having not been included in their squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica.
Reece James is also sidelined with a twisted ankle. The right-back sustained the injury in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City but, despite being included in the England squad, manager Thomas Tuchel said he was nowhere near to making a comeback.
