Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N’Golo Kante suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury during the first half of the 1-1 draw against Liverpool at the weekend.
The Frenchman did not come out for the second half at Anfield, with Mateo Kovacic taking his place, and it is not known how long he will be out for.
Kante did not feature in the opening day victory against Crystal Palace after suffering a similar injury, before returning to the bench against Arsenal. However, he managed to twist the same ankle when colliding with a Liverpool player.
Christian Pulisic is the only other fitness concern in the first-team squad. Tuchel has revealed that the American has been cleared for international duty but he has yet to get a negative test for the virus.
The winger will only be able to join up with his teammates again once he is given the all-clear, but he should be available when the Blues take on Aston Villa in a couple of weeks.
