Latest Chelsea Injury Report: Updates On Gilmour, Kovacic And Kante

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is out for the season with a knee injury. He is estimated to be sidelined for six weeks meaning he won’t be back on the training pitch until the end of August.

There is some doubt over whether he’ll need surgery so his return date may change depending on what decision is made.

Mateo Kovacic is, however, back in contention. The Croatian international missed the games against Watford and Crystal Palace with an Achilles injury but he has returned to full training. He is expected to be in the matchday squad for tomorrow’s match against Sheffield United.

N’Golo Kante (hamstring) is a major doubt for the game with manager Frank Lampard having said earlier this week that they would be lucky to have the Frenchman back for the clash at Bramall Lane.

Lampard also confirmed that Fikayo Tomori had suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring problem, which has kept him out of action since the restart.
