Latest Chelsea Injury Report Ahead Of The Game Against Ajax

Chelsea have seven players on the sidelines at the moment heading into the game against Ajax tomorrow night, and it’s unlikely that many will be back in contention to play in the Champions League group game.

Andreas Christensen is out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring problem he picked up on international duty, while N’Golo Kante is also unavailable due to a minor groin injury.

Ross Barkley twisted his ankle in the first half against Newcastle and is a major doubt for the match in Holland, while Antonio Rudiger is still lacking match fitness so is unlikely to start either.

Emerson Palmieri is back training but it remains to be seen when manager Frank Lampard decides to put him back in from the start after his thigh injury.

Ruben Loftus Cheek (Achilles) and Marco van Ginkel (knee) are working hard in their rehabilitation but they are still a way off from making their first-team comeback.

There had been some concern over captain Cesar Azpilicueta as well, but manager Lampard said after the win over Newcastle that the Spaniard was ok:

“I think Azpi was alright, he didn’t say anything when he came off.”
