Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that neither Christian Pulisic nor Hakim Ziyech will be in the squad for tomorrow night’s game against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
The two players are recovering from hamstring and knee problems respectively, and they still need more time to get back to full fitness before they can be considered for selection.
Pulisic suffered a setback in his recovery earlier this month and the American international has not played a single minute this season, with his last match being the FA Cup final against Arsenal. Ziyech, meanwhile, picked up his issue in preseason during a friendly game against Brighton.
New signing Edouard Mendy will, though, be involved tomorrow night. The Senegalese international was not selected for the 3-3 draw against West Brom at the weekend due to a lack of training but he is now set for his debut.
Lampard has also confirmed that Billy Gilmour’s return date from knee surgery has been pushed back by a month until November.
