Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Thiago Silva won’t feature for the Blues when they take on Sheffield United today.

The Brazilian has been sidelined with a thigh muscle injury since the 1-0 win against Tottenham at the start of last month but Tuchel says they won’t risk bringing the defender back before the international break:

“We’re taking our time. He will rejoin the group (for training) hopefully during the international break to be ready for the decisive end to the season.”

There was also some concerning news regarding Tammy Abraham. The 23-year-old has reportedly been carrying an ankle injury in recent weeks and Tuchel said he had another setback in training on Friday when he aggravated the problem.

It is touch and go whether he’ll be involved in the match at Stamford Bridge today, and it’s likely that he’ll have to be satisfied with a place on the bench if he is deemed fit for the FA Cup clash.

Andreas Christensen is the only other fitness concern. The Danish international was taken ill before the win over Atletico Madrid during the week but he has tested negative for the virus.
