Latest Chelsea Injury News: Updates On Hudson Odoi And Barkley

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was missing from the squad that travelled out for the game against Valencia. The 19-year-old has a thigh problem which he picked up whilst on international duty with England.

However, Blues boss Frank Lampard has insisted that it is only a minor issue and he is hopeful that the teenager will be available when his side face West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Ross Barkley also didn’t make the flight out to Spain. The official word is that the midfielder is still struggling with an ankle injury, but his antics at a nightclub recently probably haven’t helped his claims for a recall when he is fit.

Antonio Rudiger is fit and back in training. The German suffered a setback in his return from a groin problem and had to have surgery before the international break. The defender is, though, closing in on a return and could be in the matchday squad for the Hammers game this weekend.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Achilles) is still a long way from returning to first-team action, according to Lampard, but there is some good news on Marco van Ginkel. The Dutchman returned to training after 17 months out with an ACL injury.
