Latest Chelsea Injury News: Updates On Christensen And James

Chelsea fear that centre-back Andreas Christensen could be sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury, according to reports.

The Danish international picked up the issue in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa last month, although he did complete the full 90 minutes despite carrying the injury.

Christensen wasn’t included in the matchday squad for the defeat versus Manchester City on Sunday and it appears he could well miss the FA Cup tie against Morecambe, as well as league matches against Fulham and Leicester.

Reece James also remains out of contention with a hamstring problem. The right-back has not played since the 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Boxing Day, and he isn’t expected to return for this weekend’s game either.

We will probably know more after manager Frank Lampard’s press conference about when the 21-year-old could be back in action. Hamstring injuries can keep a player out for two to six weeks depending on the severity so hopefully, it is just a minor one.
