Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell sprained his ankle in the first half of the Blues’ 3-0 win over West Ham on Monday night and is now a major doubt to face Arsenal this weekend.
The 23-year-old is expected to undergo a scan to determine the seriousness of the issue but it’s not likely that he’ll make a swift enough recovery to make the Boxing Day clash.
Reece James does have a slightly better chance of facing the Gunners. The 21-year-old sat out the victory against the Hammers due to a knee problem but Lampard says he is hopeful to have the fullback return at some point during the festive period.
Hakim Ziyech should be ready for the game at the Emirates. The Moroccan international returned to training last Friday but he wasn’t deemed fit enough for the matchday squad on Monday with the Blues looking to manage his comeback from a hamstring injury carefully.
