Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is now expected to be fit for the season opener against Brighton on Monday night. The American international has been struggling with a hamstring problem which he picked up in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.

It was predicted that he would be out for up to six weeks and, considering we are now close to the estimated return date, it seems he is now stepping up his fitness and is back in first-team training.

The news is not so good for Hakim Ziyech with the Moroccan unlikely to be fit after sustaining a knee injury in the 1-1 friendly draw against the Seagulls last week. Another new signing, Ben Chilwell, is also expected to miss out as he continues building up his fitness after a heel injury.

The only other player currently on the treatment table is Billy Gilmour, with the teenager only likely to return next month following knee surgery.
