Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N’Golo Kante was left out for the game against Everton yesterday due to a minor knock.
The Frenchman is expected to be back in contention when the Blues take on Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Jorginho was forced off at half-time during the 1-0 defeat to the Toffees. Tuchel revealed that he had no choice but to replace the Italian with Mateo Kovacic for the second half but the German didn’t elaborate as to why he made the change. It does suggest it was a fitness issue, though.
Andreas Christensen and Ross Barkley have recovered from illness, but they were deemed not fit enough to face Everton. Both should be back in the squad this weekend.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) and Ben Chilwell (knee) are long-term absentees and it’s unlikely that either player will be able to play any part in the remaining games this season.
