Lampard Told He Can Leave Chelsea!

England international Frank Lampard’s Chelsea contract expired at the end of the season but no new deal has been offered to him. Lampard went through a similar situation last season, but Mourinho’s arrival at the club last summer prompted a one-year extension being offered to the 35-year-old.

Lampard, who will fly to Brazil with the England squad for the World Cup, was informed by the club last week that his time at the Bridge has come to an end, according to the Daily Mail. There has been English interest from the likes of newly-promoted QPR but MLS club New York City are in pole position to land the coveted midfielder.

Reports have emerged suggesting that the MLS outfit, who are also interested in signing Spain striker David Villa, have already agreed a deal with Lampard to sign him for next season.

The attacking midfielder has spent 13 trophy-laden seasons with the Blues and is also the club’s all-time top scorer with 211 goals in all competitions. He has won three Premier League titles, one Champions League, one Europa League and four FA Cups among other honours with Chelsea.
