Lampard To Perform In Australian League Before Moving To New York

Chelsea’s all-time top scorer is seemingly going to play on three different continents before he retires. According to the Mirror, the former English international is set to play for Manchester City’s Australian representative. Melbourne City will include Lampard in their squad for a couple of months up until the MLS begins. David Villa is also set to join the 36 year old in Australia where they will be playing until October. Both the Australian and the MLS teams are owned by Manchester City’s number one man, Sheik Mansour.

If not for Lampard’s total dedication towards Chelsea, he would have probably made a few appearances for the Citizens before the MLS stars. David Villa is not the only big-time player Lampard will be playing alongside. Former Chelsea teammate Damien Duff is also in Melbourne after signing a 1 year deal with the Australians.

Apparently, Lampard contacted former Chelsea keeper Mark Schwarzer in order to learn a thing or two about his future destination. The Blues’ ex-stopper was excited when learning that such a huge player as Lampard will be performing in the Australian championship. The former England international who ended his national team career after a hugely disappointing World Cup experience, left Chelsea while holding the record for most consecutive appearances and most goals ever scored for Chelsea by a single player. It is hard to believe anyone will manage to score more than 211 goals which is how many the former England international managed.
