Lampard To Follow After Terry Gets Contract Extension

Lampard To Follow After Terry Gets Contract Extension

After John Terry announced he has reached an agreement with the club for one more year, it is Lampard’s turn to try and secure another season on Stamford Bridge. To be fair, the former English international deserves to end his career with the Blues. He has been with the club since 2001 and has become an iconic player for the London side. What is even more amazing is that despite being the oldest player in Chelsea’s squad he still managed to make 34 appearances and score 7 times in the 2013-2014 season.

According to the Daily Mail, Terry was a priority for the club. The captain whose contract was about to end, will continue playing for Chelsea for his 21st consecutive year. Hopefully Lampard will also get the chance to perform one more year given his excellent form. Mourinho made it clear he wants both players to stay. Even since coaching Real, the Portuguese manager insisted players like the two former English internationals are not to be left behind.

Cole is also entering his last few weeks at Stamford Bridge. Despite being the same age as Terry, he might not be as lucky as to continue with the Blues. His performances of this season were less than mediocre and lacked determination. Even though Cole is still seen as one of the best left-backs in the world, it is clear he lacks motivation. Chances are he will take on a new challenge and part ways with the London side where he has been playing since 2006.
