Lampard Speaks Out On When Christian Pulisic Could Make His Return To Chelsea Squad

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard says he is hopeful that Christian Pulisic will be available to face Wolves on Tuesday evening.

The American international missed the 1-0 defeat to Everton yesterday due to a hamstring problem and Lampard says they will be careful with his recovery, with the player only to be considered for selection when he is 100% fit:

“We simply can’t risk him. We have seen two wingers go down recently, Ziyech last week and Callum in training. We are coming up to a busy period in the season. As we keep saying, players are getting a lot of muscle injuries. Christian wasn’t ready quite, but hopefully for Tuesday night, we will find out next week.”

It does seem touch and go on whether Pulisic will return during the week. If the 22-year-old is still feeling his hamstring, Lampard may not even select him once again.

A return to the bench is probably more likely, considering he is not technically injured, but if the player is concerned about the issue, he will not be able to give his all if he does come on.

It’s a tricky one for Lampard and he will have to rely both on Pulisic’s own feelings and the medical staff’s advice before reintroducing him to the matchday squad.
