Lampard Remains Coy On Whether Chelsea Are After £150m Rated Trio

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard would not be drawn on whether the Blues are targeting Ben Chilwell, Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window.

With the club having their transfer ban lifted, there have been reports that the London club have at least £150m to spend on the trio, but when asked about the claims, Lampard said:

“I’m certainly not going to sit here today and go too far down any lines with that. We’ll see where we are. I’m happy with the squad we have here. I think we’re doing OK. My job is always to focus on the next game and what’s in front of us.”

“In terms of the bigger picture and what we do going forward, of course, that’s constant and it’s sometimes fluid, so there are no absolute answers at this point.”

The likeliest of the three is Chilwell with Lampard having resorted to playing captain Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back ahead of his other options, Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso.

The Leicester defender could cost up to £60m, which would be a sizeable sum for the 22-year-old. He is, however, a fully-fledged England international and would fit in well with the other young stars in his squad.

Sancho and Zaha would probably cost in the region of £80m to £100m each, which may put off Chelsea, but we shall have to wait and see what happens in January.
