Lampard Has His Say On Whether Chelsea Starlet Should Consider Leipzig Move

Derby manager and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes Mason Mount has a decision to make after RB Leipzig showed an interest in the 20-year-old.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Pride Park for the remainder of the season, but when asked if a move to Germany would be a good idea for the playmaker, Lampard replied:

“That’s his call. It depends, how Chelsea see it and how he sees it. It depends, what is the best plan for him. What we can say is that the year he’s had – he’s had a great year which has put him one big step up the ladder.”

“I think he can be a top player. I know that’s a broad statement, he’s already been in an England squad but I believe he’ll go back to Chelsea and be a big player for Chelsea. I know that’s his dream.”

Mount has had a difficult time with injury during his loan spell, having missed almost two months of the campaign with a hamstring problem.

Game time next season would probably be at the forefront of the midfielder’s mind as he looks to develop his game. Whether he’d get it at Chelsea, it’s difficult to know.

If the Blues’ transfer embargo remains in place and Mateo Kovacic returns to Real Madrid, there would be an opening for Mount in midfield.

It also depends on whether Maurizio Sarri stays in change or another coach is appointed who could be more open to giving the midfielder a starting berth.
