Lampard Enjoying Mourinho Return

According to ESPN, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is relishing the opportunity to work with manager Jose Mourinho for a second time in his career, after revealing some vital characteristics about the Mourinho’s managerial style that keep the England international motivated and connected with the boss.

It has been a topsy turvy start to Mourinho’s second stint at Chelsea, and even though one may argue that it was the supporters, who were the happiest group of individuals after Mourinho’s decision to come back to the club, undoubtedly the players that had been there with the manager during his glorious first stint at the club were also pretty delighted. Players like John Terry, who lead the club during the previous stint, will be delighted to return to the old way of training that worked so well in the past. Mourinho was responsible for achieving the feat of winning two Barclays Premier League crowns in successive seasons, a stat that still holds a special place in the supporters’ hearts. Other players like Ashley Cole will have renewed hope of extending their careers with the club, after having seen numerous managers join the club with big hopes, only to leave in a short span of time after poor results. Cole has also spoken of his admiration of Mourinho, and has offered to sign a one year extension to the current contract which expires at the end of the season. The left back has been under pressure this season, with Ryan Bertrand emerging as a potential replacement in the future. The youngster has performed well in difficult circumstances, proving his mettle to play on a consistent basis.

There is no hiding in the fact that Lampard and Mourinho have always shared a successful player-manager relationship. Lampard is one of the more hard working players off the pitch in training, and Mourinho is very appreciative of that fact, and gives the midfielder utmost respect. Mourinho has also said Lampard to be the best midfielder he had ever worked with.

Lampard said, ““He is who he is. He used to get quite upset and quite vocal with a loss, but I always liked that about him because then you know where you are,”

“Some managers don’t say anything after a bad result, and you’re left wondering what they’re thinking. For me, one of the beautiful things about him is his personality and that hasn’t changed.”

“I was delighted he came back because I knew what a great manager he’d be for the club and for me. At that later stage of your career, it’s great to have a manager you trust and who understands you and you understand him.”
