Lampard Agrees £5.5m A Year Deal With Chelsea Start Date Pencilled In

Frank Lampard has agreed a £5.5m a year, three-year contract to become Chelsea’s next manager, according to the Sun.

The Derby boss is expected to start work at Cobham next week to take pre-season training with his new players.

Members of the first team squad, who haven’t been involved in international duty, will report back on Friday 5th July and Lampard will arrive earlier in the week to make preparations.

Derby gave Chelsea permission yesterday to speak with their manager, and it appears there will be no problems in agreeing the £4m compensation package, with the finishing details being made to his contract.

Lampard is expected to take three members of his backroom staff with him from the Rams, including assistant manager Jody Morris, fitness guru Chris Jones and goalkeeping coach Shay Given.

It remains to be seen if Claude Makelele and Didier Drogba will also be appointed to roles with both ex-Chelsea stars having also been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge.
