Lack Of Striker Options Cost Chelsea Again As PSG Take 3-1 Lead

It has been a very poor season for the forwards at Chelsea, with none of them managing (except for Eto’o in the 2nd half of the season) to either make an impression of any sorts, or make a strong case for their inclusion in the squad in the future. Had it not been for the sensational form of Eden Hazard and Oscar, Chelsea would have not even been close to the top of the table or advanced so far in the Champions League.

The current dismal state of the Blues’ strike force was on display in their shocking 1-0 loss at Crystal Palace on the weekend and again vs PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night in their 3-1 loss in Paris. The midfielders had an off game, which cost them 3 points and gifted the momentum to Liverpool in the Premier League and it was the same against PSG in the Champions League as Mourinho even went with Schurrle in attack having no confidence in his true strikers and when he did turn to Torres, the Spaniard, bereft of all confidence, could not provide anything. It was Hazard as always seemingly who did supply the goal, however only from the penalty spot but still the other midfielders came up empty and PSG were worthy winners even if Cech maybe should have done better on the last goal from Pastore which sneaked by him at the near post.

The Guardian now believe that the Portugese manager has had enough of his strikers which also includes Samuel Eto’o, who is currently out injured. Romelu Lukaku, currently on-loan at Everton, too looks set to spend time away from Chelsea next season again. He is even looking to get rid of Torres and Ba, and replace them with Atletico Madrid’s sensational Diego Costa who is the only man who can rival Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo as the best striker in the world at the moment.

The Spanish striker has caught the fancy of Mourinho, who is understood to be a huge admirer of him. He wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge as he plans an all-out assault on silverware next season.

Will we see a major shake up of the strike-force at Chelsea this summer? It sure looks like it doesn’t it?
