Kovacic Thinks It’s “Too Early” To Contemplate Permanent Chelsea Move

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic says he is not thinking about a permanent move to Stamford Bridge at the moment.

The Croatian has featured prominently since arriving on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, but when asked if he’ll be at the club beyond the summer, he said.

“It’s too early for these questions, I am here and very happy. [Playing regularly] is good, I’m a little bit tired. I was not used to playing every three or four games and here it is very tough football.”

“You can’t relax against anybody so it’s a little bit difficult but I really enjoy it. We have a great team, great fans and the city is nice. I like it a lot here.”

Kovacic was on the bench for the Blues’ convincing 4-0 win over Burnley yesterday, with Ross Barkley taking his place in the side.

The England international scored and provided an assist at Turfmoor, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek also came on as a substitute to score his fourth goal in two games.

Competition for places in midfield is, therefore, extremely high with manager Maurizio Sarri also having Cesc Fabregas as another alternative option.

Chelsea’s win yesterday afternoon moves them up to second in the table for the time being; two points behind league leaders Liverpool. Manchester City could go back above the London club if they beat Spurs this evening.
