Kovacic In And Kante Out: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Newcastle

Chelsea’s injury problems make it hard to predict who manager Frank Lampard will pick in his starting line up to face Newcastle tomorrow afternoon.

Reece James and Emerson Palmieri are back in training but with Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso having started the 4-1 win against Southampton last time out, it’s unlikely the Blues will make any changes at fullback.

Andreas Christensen picked up a hamstring injury on international duty so that could lead to Lampard picking Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori to start in the centre of defence once again. Antonio Rudiger is said to be back in training but he hasn’t played for over a month.

In midfield, N’Golo Kante is very unlikely to feature tomorrow after picking up a groin injury whilst away with France. However, his potential replacement Mateo Kovacic also has a leg injury. The issue is said to be minor so the Croatian is the likeliest to start out of the two.

After their excellent display against the Saints, the front three of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham and Willian are likely to be named in the starting eleven once again.

Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Newcastle:

Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Willian, Abraham, Hudson-Odoi
