Kovacic Could Make Inter Switch As Conte Looks To Pounce On Chelsea Uncertainty

Inter Milan are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to reports in Italy.

There had been reports that the Blues could extend the Croatian’s loan until next summer before signing him on a permanent basis for £26m, but it appears the uncertainty over the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge could stop that from happening.

Kovacic is, therefore, likely to return to Real Madrid, with a move to Serie A now a likely possibility.

New Inter boss Antonio Conte is said to be a fan of the midfielder and would like to secure the 25-year-old on loan for next season.

Kovacic actually signed for Real from the Nerazzurri for £34m in 2015. He spent two and a half years at the Serie A club, making 97 appearances.

The Croatian international has been a regular for manager Maurizio Sarri and put in a very good performance in the Europa League final against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
