Koke Hints To Chelsea Transfer

Atletico Madrid’s Koke is urging former colleague Filipe Luis to return to Spain after failing to adapt to the Premier League.

Filipe Luis seems to be getting closer and closer to returning to Atletico Madrid after missing out on an entire season spent at Stamford Bridge. Competing directly with Azpilicueta was not a good idea even if the Spaniard is best used on the right side of the defense rather than on the left. Luis is no longer the player who helped Atletico complete what was probably one of the most exciting seasons in the club’s history. English football is not for the 29 year old who is under contract with the Blues until 2017 but is very likely to leave by the end of August. The Brazilian just completed his first 12 months in London but only made 26 appearances 10 of which were not that important. He spent a lot of time on the bench and did not even make the squad a couple of times.

He was rumored to return to Atletico as early as the beginning of 2015 but Mourinho ruled out a return which would have caused Chelsea to lose cover on the left side. Back then Simeone told the press that his former student is welcomed to return despite leaving Spain on terms which were not the best. According to the Daily Express, it is now Koke’s turn to advise Luis it would be best for him to return and start playing again. He will be turning 30 soon and he will not be receiving an extension from the Blues who barely offer one year contracts to players above a certain age limit. Hopefully Luis will find his place again in Madrid and return to the form which made Chelsea pay around £18million for the Brazil international.
