Kevin De Bruyne’s Chelsea Future Hangs In The Balance

The 21-year old Kevin De Bruyne was purchased by Chelsea back on Transfer Deadline Day in January 2012 from Belgian outfit Racing Genk and was then loaned back to his former club immediately. He returned to Chelsea in the summer, and with chances of earning some playing time seeming very bleak, he was sent out on loan yet again, this time to German club Werder Bremen.

Now that he has returned back to Chelsea after his second loan stint, there have been talks about his future yet again. With Mourinho returning to the helm at Stamford Bridge, the decision which he will take on De Bruyne’s future should be interesting, given the fact that he will want to play as much as he can, with one eye on the World Cup 2014 with Belgium next summer. The press caught up with the attacker and he was asked about his future, and SkySports reported that he was himself clueless as to where he will be playing his football next season. He said, “The most important thing for me is to play games.”

“I know that I will be stressed when I play a few games on the bench.”

“I always try to give my best for the team and I’ve had a great season, but also next season I need to play a lot of games. With the point of the World Cup, it’s very important.”

Chelsea’s midfield options currently include the likes of Juan Mata, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard, Victor Moses, Oscar and Yossi Benayoun, and with a manager like Mourinho being backed by the money of Roman Abramovich, one cannot help but speculate on Chelsea making a big money midfield signing. That could further dampen De Bryune’s chances of earning game time.

Do you feel that it is wiser for him to go out on loan yet again and play as much as possible, in order to further boost his chances of going to Brazil with his country next summer?
