Kevin De Bruyne Hoping To Make Belgian World Cup Squad

Chelsea’s Kevin De Bruyne should look forward to the winter transfer period as national team manager Marc Wilmots insists the player should move to another team. The 22 year old is not currently one of Mourinho’s favorites and things don’t look like they are about to change. The Blues boss recently criticized the attacking midfielder for his lack of commitment and focus. The Belgian was given some chances in the Capital One Cup but failed to impress and also to prove the Portuguese manager wrong.

Despite his excellent performances with Werder Bremen where he was on loan during the 2012-2013 season, he has not managed to become a team regular since returning to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s midfielder is considered one of the most promising players of his generation and several teams would be interested in signing him. According to Metro, De Bruyne has no way of knowing what the future holds. It is up to Chelsea’s management to decide whether he stays or goes.  With January just a few weeks away, the Blues will have to decide if their agreement with the 22 year old will continue or not.

The Belgium international looked pretty confident that his situation will clear up during the winter transfer period. De Bruyne also commented on the fact that Mourinho was present in the stands during Belgium’s match against Colombia. Chelsea’s player said he did not expect to impress the Blues boss and that he will play as well as he can, given the circumstances.  He also spoke about his form which is nowhere near as good as last year. According to him, that is the result of little time spent on the pitch as part of Chelsea’s starting eleven.

The fact that it feels like he has played just a couple of minutes during this season did not seem to affect the young midfielder who declared he is not lacking confidence but he is lacking match fitness. He also spoke about his chances of getting to the World Cup. He said he does not expect Marc Wilmots to depend on players who don’t get picked by their club managers to perform on a regular basis.
